Here is a photo of me on Abel Island in Guttenberg Iowa. If you look behind me you can see my stepson walking to a small boat garage directly on the river's edge. This garage is completely open in the front, and at about 9 pm at I like to sit inside while the bats are feeding over the river and at any given time at least a half dozen little browns fly right into the garage and make a few circles before returning to the river. The garage is only 9 feet wide, 16 feet deep, and 6 feet tall so the bats are in very close proximity to me when they fly in. One time I stood perfectly still in the corner and a little brown flew in and landed on the front of my shirt, groomed itself for a few seconds, then flew off of me back to the river...it was amazing! This has to be one of my best bat experiences ever, and I bet it will happen again multiple times over the Summer!
