Hi,
There are 3 photos, the last shows the 4 chambers in each of 3 sides. The top is sloped along the 6 sides, and has a cover made of thin painted white aluminum. The netting in each chamber has aluminum channel covers at the bottom so the small bats dont get hung up entering with the plastic netting edges. Note the vents high for each chamber. If I build another I will make the landing entry space 6" instead of the 3". It is mounted on a 2" sch 40 pipe...this pipe is mounted between 2 others, one on each side in concrete. The 20ft pole is between these other 2 with 2 bolts. The bottom bolts about 2ft lower than the top can be removed, and the 20ft pole tilted down so the house can be maintained. These are small bats in Jacksonville, FL

| That is an amazing design! A word of caution on the aluminum channel........bat urine will corode aluminum........supposedly the aluminum can become toxic...........I've used vinyl channel for the same purpose.............I've also used liquid nail to cover rough edges of mesh.

Very appealing design. Have you identified the species? Do I see the remnants of a wasp/other nest on the bottom?
How far is your bat house from a decently sized water source.
Do you know the species? Free-tail or possibly Evening Bat?
Is this the lone bat house in the area?
Are you aware of any bats roosting in homes/buildings nearby?
Indeed if it's not too much trouble we'd love to see the video.
Thanks again for the nice photos.

Excellent looking bat house. Is the triangular core of the house hollow?
The house seems to exceed my skills as a carpenter with my limited tools (7.5" circular saw and battery drill) but I would love to see plans for this house.
On the note of screening, I always start adhering my screening at the top of each partiton and wrap it around the bottom then continue it back up to the other side's top, thus eliminating the possibility of bats getting hung up as they enter the house.
Happy bat housing!

The Intracoastal huh ? I have 2 rocket style houses at my parents house who live on the intracoastal as well. They had about 27 bats last year in their then single two chambered rocket box. If you don't mind me asking what part of town do you live in ?
Very nice hexagon BH. Are the bats able to change chambers internally ? How long have you had inhabitants in the house. That is very interesting that you have that many bats. Can you give us some background and details ?

I live in Arlington, near MtPleasant & McCormick, in Spanish Point. I have had the house up for 4 years, but the neighbor trees limited access for bats. I cut most of his trees down, this last summer, now have more open space. The bats just started to nest after that....so less than 6 months...yes there are over 450 bats...they dont come out til around 6:00pm. It was designed for 1000. I spent a Saturday building it, Sunday painting. It needs new paint, I thought this summer after all the bats leave in the evening, I would paint the outside...probably would dry before they return.
