This spring I put up a new bat house on the south end of the hay barn, to provide a nursery colony.
The peak of the barn is 16' high, so the bottom of the house is a little less than 14' off the ground. Below is a close-up of the house.
Today, I was checking out the house and noticed some droppings under it. I looked up in the house and found 3 adult bats and 2 new babies. I hope there will be a lot more as we move into June and their normal birthing time.
