Hey Bat House Gang,

Just wanted to let you know that in Florida, the state endangered Wagner's Mastiff Bat (now called the Wagner's Bonneted Bat) has been found in a bat house in North Fort Myers. This is a very rare species, only seen a handful of times since the 1960s. It's a single chamber bat house with a 1.5 inch chamber (it's a big bat, the largest in the eastern US). This is the first roost located since the 1980s.

Also have a credible report of Western Pipistrelles in a bat house in Utah. Awaiting verification, will let you know.

Cheers,

Nice info Mark since it is endangered/rare there are not many recent color photos of this bat:

Photo above by Merlin Tuttle BCI. Here is a link to a nice but sad ending to a mastiff: http://www.tenan.vuurwerk.nl/reports/thomas/FERENGI.html
