As you can see in my Sig I live in Florida. I'm thinking of trying a house that uses palm fronds since a lot of the species here in Florida use dead palm fronds as roosts. I'm not sure how I want to do it though. I'm thinking I could start with a 4x4 and make a plywood base, kinda like the start of a rocket style house and then attach fronds in layers. Just bouncing it around in my head right now so any ideas would be great.

Sounds like a great idea.  Would you be stapling the fronds to the wood or have you another approach?

I think I'll cut most of the branch (lack of a better term) except 2-3 " and put a screw in through the plywood. Maybe I'll try some spacers between each layer of fronds. I guess I'll have to staple in some places. I'm going to use green fronds so they'll be easier to work with and they'll dry the way I want them to.

I'm also thinking I'll either notch the 4x4 or space the plywood off 3/4 " to make 1 regular partition. What's the proper way to do this so you don't expose the bats to the pressure treated 4x4 ?
