Has anyone heard if there were areas with bat houses, etc, that were affected by Katrina?  That was a devastating hurricane this time, and I'm sure a lot of wildlife was affected.

If the hurricane killed trees and the trees are left standing, I would think it may help creatures such as bats and woodpeckers to recover.  Unfortunately after natural events like this, people feel they should "clean up" standing dead trees by cutting them down.  However there are many animals that depend on standing dead trees.
