| I love to garden and wonder how much guano ya'll get piled up around a large bat house. How many bats do live in a large house?

| Gary if you attract a nursery colony (females and young) you can attract 100's especially if nearby roosting sites are inadequate. I have more often attracted bachelor colonies of around 12-20 bats which can produce a sizable amount of guano as well, about a couple shovels full each season which might not seam like much however, if you read up on guano extensively you will find that a little goes a long way!

| on the subject of guano. If I take some from under another house and rub it on a new one will it help speed up how long it takes to attract bats?

Jury is still out on this one! Some swear by it and others say it makes no difference! To go further even others say that if you use guano from another species like that found in abundance in a Texas cave which is harvested for fertilizer and use it on a bat house in New England which has different species, you may in fact distract local bats. I personally have not found it to be advantageous but maybe more testing needs to be done. Sorry I really couldn't help you but maybe some else has an update on this.

I'm not by any means an expert but I would think if you were getting it from another house in the same area it might speed the process up, maybe. Since chances are it would be the same species. Is that what your talking about, from somewhere close ?
I have actually bought some "Bat Attractant" in hopes of getting them interested, but to date I don't think it's doing anything. I put it in one of my houses so I can't say that it has helped or hindered because none of them have inhabitants.

| I was going to collect it from another house 100 yards away. There are a few staying in a rocket style house. I was going to collect some guanno and decorate a new house with it. I'm getting ready to put up a 10 chamber nursery size and wanted to enhance the chances of early occupation.
