Hmm could very well be given their southern range and commonality. Mark Kiser has a lot of experience with free-tails I believe and could confirm the potential odds especially considering your info above. :roll:

If you have ruled out big brown bats and free-tails, I'd say the bats were either evening bats (more likely) or southeastern myotis.
