2) Looking at the photos it appears that the roof is for weather proofing only with no bat access. Does it contain insulating material of any kind?

Yes it does and should be sufficient. I attempted to push it over with ladder and could not. Also has 4 large rocks in each corner of base.
No roof is not insulated.
Not yet, megarocket is lone bat house but soon I'm planning on multiple nursery houses mounted on the side of my home taking advantage of my vinyl Aerated soffits so nursery bat houses simply will not require a roof.
