| Last Saturday I erected the other 2-bat houses. I have 3-up now. They are nursery houses that are supposed to handel 500 @ piece. My dad got the plans off the internet. They are 24-inches wide, and 32-inches high, and have 4-chambers, 3/4-1-inch wide. The 2-bat houses are on 2-poles, one on each side of houses, and are mounted back to back to each other. I have one house painted dark green, and it is facing east. The other is painted gray, and of course it faces west. They are located on the edge of a clearing, 40-feet out from the tree line, and 100 yards from the pond. I also have beaver ponds under the hill, say 500-yards away, with lots of running springs through the property. My wife said she didn't want to be looking at the bat houses from the house, but it was the most likely place to put them from the knowledge obtained from the forums. She hasn't gone to the farm yet to notice, but she will get used to them. Thats one reason I painted one dark green, with a back drop of the pine trees, it blends in nicely. The poles are painted dark brown. The 3rd house is 100-yards away, and faces southwest. It is also is 100 yards from the pond, and 100-yards from the other 2-bat houses.. Now I can just wait and see if I have any takers. I don't think there are 1,500 bats in our area, they can just grow into them.
